Ingredients

To rim the glasses:

  • 2 tsp sea salt
  • 3 tsp sugar

For the drinks:

  • 4 oz rosemary simple syrup (recipe in notes)
  • 4 oz vodka
  • 12 oz grapefruit juice (tested with Simply Grapefruit)

Instructions

To rim the glasses:

  • On one saucer, add enough water to cover the bottom of the saucer. On a second saucer, mix the salt and sugar.
  • Hold lowball cup upside down and dip the rim of the cup in the water until the rim is wet.
  • Dip wet rim into salt mixture. Slide around until it is well coated.

For the drinks:

  • In a large cocktail shaker filled with ice, combine all drink ingredients. Seal and shake for 2 minutes, or until frothy.
  • Strain and pour into two rimmed lowball glasses. Garnish with extra grapfruit, if desired.

Notes

Prep the simple syrup the day before to make life easier. You can store it in the fridge up to a week.
For the rosemary simple syrup:
  • In a medium saucepan, add 2 cups warm water, 1 cup sugar, and 1-2 sprigs fresh rosemary. Whisk until well combined. Cover and bring to a boil.
  • Once syrup reaches a full boil, remove from heat. Keep covered to steep for 20 minutes.
  • Use a fine mesh strainer over a large measuring cup to strain out rosemary leaves. Let syrup cool before mixing in a drink.
